The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) will be clamping down on construction sites across Great Britain in a bid to reduce the number of accidents that result in injury and death.
During the month-long nationwide initiative, the HSE will be focussing on high-risk activities such as working at height, as well as ensuring that 'good order' is being maintained on sites.
Refurbishment and repair projects will be of particular interest to HSE inspectors, who will take tough action should they find companies not following recommended procedures.
"The purpose of the initiative is to remind those working in construction that poor standards are unacceptable and could result in enforcement action," the HSE warned.
Falls from height are one of the most common causes of fatalities and major injuries in the construction sector, with more than five such incidents recorded every day.
Around 2.5 deaths per 100,000 workers are recorded in construction every year.
